The Juntetsu Kenshi Texturizing Shear is a 6.5 inch Japanese VG-10 thinning shear with a 40-tooth blade, a smooth ball-bearing tension system, and the sculpted Kenshi handle. It is built for right-handed blending and finishing work.

  • Description

The Kenshi Texturizing Scissor is the blending partner to the Kenshi cutting range, sharing the same sculpted engraved handle and ball-bearing pivot. It is made for stylists and barbers who want soft, seamless texture rather than heavy bulk removal.

What the 40-tooth blade does

Tooth count decides how a texturizer behaves. A higher count like the 40 teeth on this blade removes a smaller amount of hair with each pass than a wide-tooth thinner, which makes it suited to fine blending, softening hard lines and finishing rather than bulk removal. Used through the mid-lengths and ends it breaks up weight gradually and leaves a natural, blended result with fewer visible lines.

VG-10 steel and a convex cutting edge

VG-10 is a Japanese high-carbon stainless steel valued for edge retention and corrosion resistance, hardened here to around 60-61 HRC. The solid blade carries a hand-honed convex edge that meets the toothed blade cleanly, so hair is caught and released smoothly without pushing or bending.

Ball-bearing tension and the Kenshi handle

The Juntetsu ball-bearing adjustment screw gives a smooth action and holds its setting through repeated use. The sculpted, engraved offset handle matches the Kenshi cutting shears, so a stylist working with both keeps a consistent feel across cutting and texturizing.

  • Frequently asked questions

How much hair does a 40-tooth texturizer remove?
A higher tooth count removes less hair per pass than a wide-tooth thinner, so it is made for fine, gradual blending and finishing rather than taking out bulk. Build the effect up with repeat passes rather than expecting heavy removal in one.

What is it best used for?
Softening weight lines, blending between sections, detail finishing and adding movement through the mid-lengths and ends.

Is this scissor available for left-handed stylists?
This model is built as a right-handed shear. If you need a true left-handed pair, contact our team before ordering and we will let you know the current options.

How do I care for it?
Wipe the blades clean and dry after each client and add a drop of scissor oil at the pivot regularly. Have the convex edge sharpened only by a sharpener trained on textured and convex blades.

Where is it made?
The Kenshi Texturizing Shear is made in Japan from Japanese VG-10 steel.
